Accessibility Statement
Empire State Law PLLC is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to this website.
Our Commitment
Equal access to legal information is foundational to our work. We believe that the people who most need consumer protection — including older adults, people with disabilities, and people using assistive technology — should be able to learn about their rights, evaluate their options, and contact counsel without obstacle.
To honor that commitment, we design, build, and maintain this website with accessibility as a first-class concern, not an afterthought.
Conformance Target
This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 AA explains how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, speech, and cognitive disabilities.
How We Implement Accessibility
Screen Reader Compatibility
The site is structured with semantic HTML landmarks, descriptive headings, and ARIA labels where appropriate, and is tested against common screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver.
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. A skip-to-content link is provided on every page, and focus states are clearly visible.
Color & Contrast
Body and informational text meets or exceeds a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and large text meets or exceeds 3:1, against background. Information is not conveyed by color alone.
Reduced Motion
Where decorative motion is used, we honor the user's prefers-reduced-motion setting and suppress non-essential animation accordingly.
Accessible Forms
Form fields have programmatic labels and help text, required fields are announced to assistive technology, and validation messages are conveyed through accessible live regions.
Touch & Mobile
Interactive controls meet a minimum 44 × 44 pixel target on touch devices, and layouts adapt down to small viewports without horizontal scrolling.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We periodically audit the site against current WCAG criteria, address newly identified issues, and update our practices as the underlying standards evolve. As we add features, we review them for accessibility before they go live.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on this site may not yet be fully accessible. Where we identify a gap, we prioritize remediation. If you encounter content on this site that is not accessible to you, please let us know — we treat reports as actionable items, not formalities.
Third-Party Content
Some elements of this site (for example, embedded fonts and external maps or services) are provided by third parties. We work to ensure those providers also meet accessibility standards, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of resources we do not directly control.
Contact Us About Accessibility
If you experience any difficulty accessing content on this website, if you would like to report an accessibility barrier, or if you have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us. We aim to respond to accessibility inquiries within ten business days.
You may contact us through our general contact form and select "Digital accessibility issue" as the type of inquiry. When writing about an accessibility issue, please describe the page or feature involved, the assistive technology you were using (if any), and a brief description of the difficulty so we can investigate effectively.
Formal Complaints
We aim to resolve all accessibility concerns directly and promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to seek further recourse under applicable law. Nothing in this statement waives or limits any legal right you may otherwise have.
